La Paloma Academy’s Middle School consists of grades 7 and 8. Our middle school classes are designed to thoroughly prepare students for high school level subjects and situations.
The Character Counts! curriculum continues for both seventh and eighth grade classrooms through a variety of community service activities.
In the disciplines of reading and writing, students are exposed to a wide range of literary styles in order to practice reading skills and to gain an appreciation of reading. Our middle school writing workshops integrate grammar, usage and mechanics of ideal writing skills
The mathematics focus is on pre-algebra, geometry, probability and graphing. Students are also introduced to algebra in eighth grade.
Social Studies introduces students to American History and patriotic values. Students are encouraged to think about ideas and issues that aid them in questioning and thinking in a critical way.
The science topics included in the middle school curriculum include astronomy, geology, meteorology, oceanography, and ecology; and students are also taught the methods of scientific inquiry: observing, classifying, measuring, inferring, predicting and reporting.
