In a constant effort to build values in citizenship, caring and responsibility, La Paloma Academy dedicates each grade to a community focus. Students will become actively involved in serving others as well as working on campaigns to educate other students in different grades on their cause. The following is the layout of our community service projects and examples of projects:
Kindergarten Focus: Family Literacy Students will provide books for children across the community.
1st Grade Focus: Children Students will hold a diaper drive, and work with Casa de los Niños
2nd Grade Focus: Underprivledged Students will work with homeless shelters, Food Bank, Adopt-a-Family
3rd Grade Focus: Elderly Students will visit nursing homes/elder care community centers
4th Grade Focus: Environment Student will participate in “Seed the Lemmon,” Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection, Santa Cruz River Habitat Restoration Program, Tucson Audubon Society
5th Grade Focus: Women Students will work with the Miracle Center in Tucson
6th Grade Focus: Military Students will write to soldiers across seas, support families who have loved ones in the military, and work for national causes
7th Grade Focus: Sickly Students will work with Hospice Care Centers, Adopt-a-Family, American Red Cross, Arizona Heart Association, Arizona Cancer Center
8th Grade Focus: Our School Students will be responsible for the La Paloma Academy school store, snack bar, deliver “free milk” to classes for snack, organize Spirit Week, Field Day, etc.
