I structure my lessons to develop an innate sense of wonder and curiosity within students about the various topics we explore; such topics include leadership, sociological justice, environmental justice and personal development. I hope to build and develop an internal motivation for learning in each individual student. Eighth graders research and present works based on Edgar Allen Poe, the godfather of mystery. All Jr. High students study various American poets and create a poster presentation on famous poets as well as a portfolio of their original works. Seventh graders will read novels by Jack London illustrating the importance of environmental protection and the wilderness. We also touch on World Mythology and Mythology of the Americas at the end of the year. |
