I have worked as the principal of La Paloma Academy for 7 years. I am an Arizona certified teacher and principal. I received my Masters degree in Bilingual/Multicultural Education, and am almost finished with my doctorate program, working on an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership. As an administrator and parent I am passionate about La Paloma Academy and working to continue improving our schools' instruction and uniting our schools through instructional practices and methods of assessment.
As Chief Academic Officer (CAO), I am the academic leader of La Paloma Academy. My job includes developing a quality program where all students can demonstrate achievement. Responsibilities include monitoring educational performance and overseeing curriculum, instruction, and assessment. I work with the principals to ensure teachers needs are being met through high-quality professional development opportunities.
La Paloma Academy is embracing Balanced Literacy and collaborative group work. Students are encouraged to engage with one another, supporting higher level thinking and learning activities. Students are monitored monthly by curriculum-based measurements (CBM's) and DIBELS (reading assessment). Cooperative learning groups in the classroom allows teachers to target lessons and provide direct instruction at individual learning levels. |
