Why Work for La Paloma Academy Marana?

OUR COMMUNITY

Our school community comprises a diverse group of families, yet they all share a common goal: fostering an environment conducive to learning. The teachers, staff, and community collaborate to facilitate learning activities and identify the factors that contribute to the effectiveness of these activities in shaping the successful futures of every student at La Paloma Academy Marana.

OUR STUDENTS

At La Paloma Academy Marana, our students are naturally curious, energetic, and social, with a strong desire for learning, collaboration, and recognition. They thrive on hands-on activities and enjoy games, stories, and interactive learning experiences. They approach learning with enthusiasm and eagerness and enjoy tasks that are challenging, yet not overly difficult. Our students are also resilient and can learn a great deal from mistakes, with the right support and guidance.

OUR CULTURE

La Paloma Academy Marana is a tuition-FREE, not-for-profit K-8 charter school, providing an exceptional educational environment which focuses on incredible academics, community involvement, and family values. As a charter school, we adhere to the same major laws and regulations as all other public schools. The major difference between charter and public schools is that charter schools have the freedom to set their own rules regarding curriculum and teaching styles. WHAT THE TEACHERS ARE SAYING

"At La Paloma’s Marana campus, I eagerly anticipate my daily work routine because of the school’s remarkable close-knit family atmosphere. Everyone here places a strong emphasis on character development alongside academics, which is a key factor contributing to the school’s A-rating. Additionally, our superintendent actively participates in school events and provides valuable resources and support to teachers and staff alike. At LPA Marana, our collective focus is on student success, ensuring that students receive comprehensive education that encompasses both character development and academic excellence. The integrity and high standards upheld by our teachers and staff serve as an exceptional example for our students."

Susan Lyons,

Administrative Assistant

"I’ve been a second-grade teacher for ten years, with the last three years spent at La Paloma’s Marana campus. Our teachers and staff are passionate about our work and support one another. We set high expectations for our students’ growth and success, viewing them as individuals rather than just numbers, recognizing their incredible potential. As a relatively small campus with small class sizes, we foster a supportive environment where teachers collaborate effectively. The superintendent and administration are approachable and make the work atmosphere enjoyable for both teachers and students. These factors have contributed to LPA Marana’s recognition as an “A” school by the Arizona Department of Education, a source of great pride for all of us."

Heidi Kearns,

2nd Grade Teacher

"The last three years of my teaching career have been spent at La Paloma’s Marana campus, and I’ve discovered that the LPA community feels like a close-knit family. The administrators and superintendent consistently express their appreciation for the teachers and staff, fostering a supportive and nurturing environment. Our students are incredibly kind, accepting, and dedicated to their studies. One of LPA’s key strengths lies in its emphasis on character development. Our students understand that success requires perseverance, and strong moral character. Teachers at LPA Marana have the freedom to choose their materials and make independent decisions. Collaboration is also highly valued, and we all have a great time working together. Beyond the professional aspects, everyone at La Paloma genuinely enjoys each other’s company. It’s truly an amazing place to be a teacher or staff member."

Cherie Hufford,

6th/7th/8th Grade Social Studies & Reading Teacher/ Instructional Coach

"I have been with La Paloma Marana for 12 years, and I love the positive, encouraging atmosphere that surrounds everyone on campus. Teachers and staff all share their thoughts and ideas with one goal in mind: to make the future brighter for our students. We are also lucky to have a superintendent that creates events designed to build a positive culture in our school and in the community. I am so proud to be working at an A-rated school, an honor which I think can be attributed to our small class sizes, and that teachers, administration, and staff all have a shared goal of supporting our students’ growth in character and academic achievement."

WHO WE ARE

La Paloma Academy Marana serves children from kindergarten through eighth grade. We pride ourselves on being able to give children an enriched education which includes a heavy emphasis on community service and social responsibility. While La Paloma Academy Marana adheres to the same major regulations as all other public schools, our status as a charter school allows us the freedom to set our own rules regarding curriculum and teaching style.

La Paloma Academy Marana is committed to providing the highest quality education where children can achieve their full potential. This is accomplished by individualized instruction in core curriculum, low teacher-student ratios and a qualified teaching staff. Our goal is to provide a safe, structured environment, which encourages the development of strong family values. This helps students become not only well-rounded scholastically, but also lifelong responsible citizens in their community.

LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL

I’ve been the principal at La Paloma Academy Marana for three years. At our Marana campus, we take the time to get to know our students, who are all hardworking and respectful. Their parents support our mission to create well-rounded students.

"As evidence of our teachers’ excellence, we’ve been rated an “A” school by the Arizona Board of Education."

One reason our teachers are so effective is our small class sizes, averaging 18 students per class. We’re also very fortunate to have a superintendent who fosters a positive atmosphere where teachers and students are valued. What truly sets La Paloma Marana apart is our exceptional balance of academics and character education, which helps our students grow into the best versions of themselves!
