A message from Principal Bummer:
As of August 18th, our school has started a tutoring program that will affect grades 2-8, primarily in Reading and Math. This program is designed to help improve academic growth. In order for your children to be successful, we have set parameters for admittance into the tutoring program. Students will be admitted into the program if:
- The student is behind academically (must be referred by teacher)
- If there is a parent request for extra help (a parent-teacher conference must take place)
- If there is a continuous pattern of not passing their weekly common assessments in Reading and/or Math
- If the student is receiving “D’s” or “F’s” in any subject
The last bullet point is very important. Tutoring is MANDATORY for all students who have a “D” or an “F” in any subject. The student will stay in after-school tutoring until the grade(s) are brought to “C’s” or higher. Transportation will be the responsibility of the parents or guardians. Students can be picked up shortly after 4:30 p.m. or from the after-school program, which runs until 6 p.m. Please understand that this is in the best interest of improving academics and the educational outcomes for all of our students. Please confer with your children on which days there is after school tutoring for their grade levels. This program will operate a minimum of three days per week.
To stay informed, please read the Link, your children’s newsletter/blog, look at their planners each night and sign them, and get your Family Link password and username to see their grades each week.
