Dear Parents,
We know you have options when it comes to your child’s education, and I want to thank you for partnering with us. We truly value our students and parents and believe that all children have the ability to be successful both in and outside our school.
This year, we will be responsible for teaching and testing students on their understanding of the new college- and career-ready standards. Students will have to use skills to read complex text and demonstrate mathematical reasoning. Some of this is new to the students, and teachers are working hard to give your child every skill set necessary to demonstrate understanding.
To assist teachers and students, we have adopted Beyond Textbooks (BT) as a framework to ensure we have covered every standard. In addition, we are using formalized assessments through BT to check for understanding and mastery along the way. If you want to read more information on BT, the website is beyondtextbooks.org.
We also appreciate your participation in our school fundraisers. It is our goal to keep them to a minimum, and we choose ones that can hopefully benefit you. The money brought in from fundraisers help support so many extra costs that are not covered with state or grant funding.
