I don’t know about you, but I am already a little tired of seeing and hearing the back-to-school hype on TV and the radio. It’s true that school resumes at La Paloma Academy on Thursday, July 31st, so it is time to start getting geared up for your children to resume their educations.
It’s my belief that a key to preparations for starting a new school year should be getting your children organized prior to the start of school. I know that the teachers and staff at La Paloma Academy are in the midst of getting organized, as well for the start of the new school year.
I’m sure that you are aware that being organized does not always guarantee family harmony or academic success for your children, but it certainly cannot hurt. A smooth transition back-to-school does provide an opportunity for success as the school year unfolds before your children each day.
Perhaps the biggest issue that develops during the first few days and weeks of a new school year is the newness of everything. It could be a new teacher, new classmates, or even a new school for children to attend. Hopefully, your children already know the teacher for their class and they have most of their friends joining them during the new school year.
Another important consideration for working parents may be before and after school child care. La Paloma Academy provides free child care starting at 7 a.m., which is an hour prior to the start of school, and after school until 6 p.m.
The after-school program at La Paloma Academy features teacher-assisted homework help and tutoring for the first hour of the program. After that, students may participate in activities such as arts, crafts, technology, as well as sports and outdoor activities designed to enhance their health and fitness. The program features movie day on Friday to get students ready for the weekend.
It’s important that you have all of the arrangements for your child’s education taken care of prior to the start of school, including their participation in the after-school program.
To enroll your child at one of La Paloma Academy’s three campuses, go to Request Information page and fill out a short form and a school administrator will contact you. As an Arizona charter school, La Paloma Academy accepts all students through open enrollment as long as there is room. A birth certificate and immunization record are required for enrollment.
La Paloma is committed to developing a well-rounded, healthy student and community member through small class sizes and individualized attention. In addition to learning math, science, reading, writing, social studies and the arts, our students learn the importance of being good people and good citizens.
