Parents, school is almost out. What will your children do all day? Research has shown that if students don’t have academic stimulation over the summer, they return to school one month academically behind.

According to the American Camp Association, parents cite the following as the most important reasons for sending their children to camp:

  • Camp helps build self-confidence and self-esteem
  • Camp is a safe environment
  • Camp is a place to build social skills and make friends

Parents also reported that the camp experience helped their child:

  • feel good about themselves
  • gain more self-confidence or self-esteem
  • increase in independence and show more leadership skills
  • increase their friendship skills and feel more socially comfortable
  • gain in their adventurousness and willingness to try new things.

For our La Paloma families, Summer Camp runs from May 27 for eight weeks and features daily activities, weekly themes, arts & crafts, sports (basketball, volleyball and taekwondo), music & movement, and academics.

The cost is $130 per week, which includes daily snacks, breakfast, lunch and two weekly field trips. Registration is $30 per family. A $25 per week discount is available to additional siblings, up to three. The drop-in charge is $30 per day. La Paloma Summer Camp is DES approved. If enrolled by May 5, save $10 per each pre-paid week.
