This 2015-2016 school year, La Paloma Academy-South would like to extend welcome to Mr. Jayson Waugaman, who will be serving as the school’s new vice principal. Mr. Waugaman hails from a town of less than a thousand people: Worthington, Pennsylvania. In addition to growing up in the valley near Buffalo Creek, he came from a large family and is one of six children (one girl and five boys). After nine-and-a-half years in the U.S. Army and two combat tours—in Bosnia and Iraq—he entered a career in education. Mr. Waugaman has served nine years as a teacher and two as a vice principal.
Some of you may already know Mr. Waugaman, his wife Jaime, daughter Callie Marie, and their dog Seamus. Mr. Waugaman joined the La Paloma family in 2013 as a 4th grade teacher and has been nominated for the Teacher of the Year Award for his outstanding service and performance here. According to Mr. Waugaman, “I love teaching because of the students. It is so gratifying it to me when students achieve and work their hardest to accomplish a goal. Also, I love seeing their minds open up when they learn and master something new.”
He is a huge Notre Dame and Pittsburgh Steeler fan, who also enjoys the great outdoors. Some of
Mr. Waugaman’s favorite activities include: riding quads, mountain biking, hunting, fishing and camping, as well as sports like baseball, softball, hockey and football.
Join us in extending a warm welcome to Mr. Jayson Waugaman, who will serve as our new vice principal at LPA-South for the 2015-2016. We are glad to have him as part of our organization and look forward to a successful academic year.
