Why Work for La Paloma Academy Central?

OUR COMMUNITY

Our school community comprises a diverse group of families, yet they all share a common goal: fostering an environment conducive to learning. The teachers, staff, and community collaborate to facilitate learning activities and identify the factors that contribute to the effectiveness of these activities in shaping the successful futures of every student at La Paloma Academy Central.

OUR STUDENTS

At La Paloma Academy Central, our students are naturally curious, energetic, and social, with a strong desire for learning, collaboration, and recognition. They thrive on hands-on activities and enjoy games, stories, and interactive learning experiences. They approach learning with enthusiasm and eagerness and enjoy tasks that are challenging, yet not overly difficult. Our students are also resilient and can learn a great deal from mistakes, with the right support and guidance.

OUR CULTURE

La Paloma Academy Central is a tuition-FREE, not-for-profit K-8 charter school, providing an exceptional educational environment which focuses on incredible academics, community involvement, and family values. As a charter school, we adhere to the same major laws and regulations as all other public schools. The major difference between charter and public schools is that charter schools have the freedom to set their own rules regarding curriculum and teaching styles. La Paloma Academy Central was designed to deliver programs tailored to educational excellence and the needs of the community it serves.

WHAT THE TEACHERS ARE SAYING

"I’ve been working at La Paloma’s Central campus for 18 years, and there are many things that make my job incredibly enjoyable. For instance, we have an incredibly supportive administration with an open-door policy, ensuring that they’re always accessible and willing to lend a helping hand. I also have wonderful coworkers who are always ready to offer their support and assistance. To enhance my teaching, we have an amazing phonics curriculum. Perhaps most importantly, there’s a pervasive sense of kindness that permeates everyone connected to La Paloma Central. Whether it’s the teachers, the administration, the staff, the students, the families, or the community, everyone feels a genuine sense of kindness and support."

Mary O’Hare,

Kindergarten Teacher

"It’s an incredible joy to have been a part of La Paloma Central for the past two decades. What truly sets LPA apart is the exceptional support system we have for our students. While I’m sure that students face the same challenges at every school, the positive and encouraging environment at LPA makes a world of difference. The teachers in the rooms next door to my classroom are like anchors, providing constant support and guidance. It’s the kindness and dedication of our staff that truly brightens up my day and fills me with happiness."

Amy Huffman,

5th Grade Teacher

"Prior to my current teaching position at La Paloma Central, I had a 15-year stint as a 1st-grade teacher. Throughout my tenure at La Paloma, I’ve consistently encountered supportive teachers and staff who provide me with all the necessary resources to excel. At LPA, there is a collaborative environment among educators, staff, and administration, working together to ensure the success of our students. One of the most rewarding aspects of LPA is that we’re a K-8 school, allowing teachers to witness students’ growth and development over an extended period."

Jenna Cochran,

Title 1 and EL Director

"I am so fortunate to have spent the last 22 years teaching at La Paloma’s Central campus. The atmosphere at La Paloma is like that of a family. The administration is very supportive and committed to the teachers and the staff, and we are all deeply dedicated to each of the school’s students, ensuring that they all have a bright and successful future."

WHO WE ARE

La Paloma Academy Central serves children from kindergarten through eighth grade. We pride ourselves on being able to give children an enriched education which includes a heavy emphasis on community service and social responsibility. While La Paloma Academy Central adheres to the same major regulations as all other public schools, our status as a charter school allows us the freedom to set our own rules regarding curriculum and teaching style.

La Paloma Academy Central is committed to providing the highest quality education where children can achieve their full potential. This is accomplished by individualized instruction in core curriculum, low teacher-student ratios and a qualified teaching staff. Our goal is to provide a safe, structured environment, which encourages the development of strong family values. This helps students become not only well-rounded scholastically, but also lifelong responsible citizens in their community.
