Good citizenship is a value which children will carry with them into adulthood. Most schools do not integrate the Six Pillars of Character—trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship—into their curriculum as we do at La Paloma Academy. These values are crucial to the development of happy and responsible children who will become quality citizens as adults.

There are too few occasions in which parents can have fun with their children while teaching them valuable life lessons. October 28 will be one of those opportunities.
A new type of Parent-Teacher Conference comes to La Paloma Lakeside on Wednesday, October 19. Parents will meet for a conference in their child’s classroom, where they will be given personalized student data, helpful resources, and upcoming learning standards. There will also be parent workshops in the computer lab. View the flyer below for times and details.

We are excited to share the progress being made on several improvements throughout the Lakeside campus. The finishing touches are in progress for our new and improved parking lot, a new Multipurpose Recreation Center will be up and running in the near future, and the gym is receiving some much needed care after a plumbing leak. We appreciate the patience and support of all our Lakeside families during this period of transition. Please view the flyer below for more details.
We are excited to offer MySchoolBucks! This online payment service and mobile app provides a quick and easy way to add money to your student’s meal account using a credit/debit card or electronic check. You can also view recent purchases, check balances, and set up low balance alerts for free.
Lakeside has teamed up with Desert Taekwondo to offer classes to students right on campus, beginning October 5. These sessions will take place every Wednesday from 2-3:30 p.m. and are open to all students over the age of 6. Classes are $20 a month and uniforms are $40.

Science can be both a favorite and feared class. The hands-on nature of experimentation and wonder created through discovery of the world can mesmerize and fascinate students. By the same token, the specialized vocabulary and associated concepts can trip students up and alienate the curiosity the course and subjects covered can inspire.
With fall, the first report cards and parent-teacher conferences of the academic year arrive. Thus, we’re reviving a topic from last autumn.
Is your child struggling with their homework? Do some of the concepts he is learning in class just not seem to gel? Has her teacher told you she needs tutoring?
Did your child attend our Title I Summer School/Kinder Camp this summer? Help us improve the program for next year by taking a brief survey.
