Getting Through Summer Vacation

School’s out, the little tykes have been on vacation for a week, and they’re already bored. How are you going to make it to August? Here are some ideas on how parents and children can get through the summer and have a good time doing it just by planning fun things to do every day. It’s easier than you think.

Putt-ing Kids First

You can help change lives. On June 9, 6-10 p.m., the Blair Charity Group is sponsoring a family evening of fun at Golf N’ Stuff. An all-inclusive ticket includes unlimited golf, bumper boats, laser tag, batting cages, and so much more. Proceeds benefit the Arizona Basketball Academy, providing underserved youth access to basketball camps where they learn essential life skills.

Thank a Teacher

We appreciate our teachers every day, but during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 1-5, students can express their gratitude with a different theme each day.

Stay Sharp Over the Summer

La Paloma offers free Title I Summer School, so kids don’t lose any reading, writing, or math skills over the long summer break. Space is limited! Download the registration packet below and bring your completed packet back to the front office as soon as possible.

Classes are from 6-7 p.m., with a Q&A session from 7-7:30 p.m. Dinner and childcare will be provided.

Helping Reluctant Readers

The development of good reading skills in early childhood is the best predictor of future academic and financial success. The earlier kids learn to read, the better. The challenge is, not to teach kids to read, but to create an environment where kids will learn to love reading.
