Incorporating Nutrition into Mealtime for Picky Eaters

Is your child refusing to eat anything but chicken nuggets and french fries? All too often, kids are bingeing on unhealthy snack foods instead of fruits and vegetables—children today can go days without consuming any greens at all. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) suggests vegetables should be consumed with every meal and snack. However, produce intake can be difficult when kids are picky eaters.

Getting Through Summer Vacation

School’s out, the little tykes have been on vacation for a week, and they’re already bored. How are you going to make it to August? Here are some ideas on how parents and children can get through the summer and have a good time doing it just by planning fun things to do every day. It’s easier than you think.

Putt-ing Kids First

You can help change lives. On June 9, 6-10 p.m., the Blair Charity Group is sponsoring a family evening of fun at Golf N’ Stuff. An all-inclusive ticket includes unlimited golf, bumper boats, laser tag, batting cages, and so much more. Proceeds benefit the Arizona Basketball Academy, providing underserved youth access to basketball camps where they learn essential life skills.

A Celebration of Spring

Join us on April 28, for our Spring Fair. From 5:30-8 p.m., students will be exhibiting their abilities in art and poetry, while others will be participating in the Talent Show, taking place from 6-7:30 p.m. It’ll be an enjoyable evening of fun and entertainment for the whole family!

Informational Home Buyers Classes

Is home ownership right for you? It may be easier than you think! Parents can find out at our informational Home Buyers Class on April 11. April is Financial Literacy Month, and we’ll have real estate experts share their knowledge and provide you with tools to determine if home ownership is right for your family. Classes are from 6-7 p.m., with a Q&A session from 7-7:30 p.m. Dinner and childcare will be provided.

From April 17-28, La Paloma Academy will be selling fragrant, stylish, and beautifully packaged Gold Canyon Candles in a variety of wonderful scents. They make great Mother’s Day gifts and the school will earn 50% on all sales, which will help bring needed supplies to our classrooms.

Helping Reluctant Readers

The development of good reading skills in early childhood is the best predictor of future academic and financial success. The earlier kids learn to read, the better. The challenge is, not to teach kids to read, but to create an environment where kids will learn to love reading.
