La Paloma Academy Named a Reader Favorite by AZ Daily Star

On September 27, 2015 in a special section of their Sunday Edition, the Arizona Daily Star published the results of their 2015 Readers’ Choice Awards votes. La Paloma Academy performed admirably in the charter school category, finishing in the top three out of 34 schools on the ballot. As such, they were awarded “Favorites” status and appear in the special issue.

April Rubasch Featured on KOLD

April Rubasch, Title I Coordinator, shared some summer educational ideas for parents with a small summer budget this morning on KOLD. She showed viewers how to make a lava lamp during an in-studio interview. KOLD also posted a link with other educational ideas that parents can do with their children.

La Paloma Academy is Offering Free Kinder Camp

From June 1-25, Mondays to Thursdays, 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. this great, teacher-recommended camp is being offered as a way to keep students’ learning skills fine-tuned and primed for next school year.

We will specifically be working on key standards that Kindergartners need to master in order to be ready for their next grade level. Students will have the opportunity to grow accustomed to the expectations of entry into a new grade level.

La Paloma Academy is Offering Free Summer School

Our teacher-recommended, Title I program is the excellent way to keep students’ learning skills fine-tuned and primed for next school year. Specialized ELA, math, reading and writing classes are being offered June 1-25, Mondays to Thursdays, 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

In order to address the academic needs of students who are currently receiving Title I support, or who have been recommended by their classroom teacher, we will specifically be working on key standards that students need to master in order to be ready for their next grade level.

Autumn Sullivan: Winner of the February 2015 Teacher Excellence Award by Tucson Values Teachers

Central’s own Autumn Sullivan has been named the winner of the February 2015 Teacher Excellence Award by Tucson Values Teachers! As part of her honors, Ms. Sullivan received a $100 OfficeMax/ Office Depot gift card, a Teacher Excellence Award plaque, flowers and school supplies.

La Paloma Academy Staff, Students to Break Ground on Solar May 21

What: La Paloma Academy and Stelcor Energy solar project groundbreaking ceremony

Who: La Paloma students, staff and charter holder Raena Janes, and Stelcor Energy Director of Commercial Projects Robert Neifert

When: 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2014

Where: La Paloma Academy Central Campus, 2050 N. Wilmot Road

Why: Launch of installation of solar panels at the Central and Lakeside campuses. The addition of solar power this summer will potentially save the charter school more than $1 million over the next 20 years. La Paloma students will use a golden shovel to dig the first hole for the installation, which will ultimately free resources that will benefit their academic environment.
